The Best Natural Skin Care Routine for Winter

Mar 29, 2024

After a scorching hot summer, many of us are relishing the thought of cooler weather over the next few months. To enjoy all the benefits of winter, however, it’s important to prepare our skin accordingly so we don’t have to suffer unnecessarily. The cold, dry weather causes the skin to crack, and the lack of moisture can make our skin age quicker if we’re not looking after it.

Fortunately, with a few simple adjustments to your skin care routine, you can enjoy moisturised, well-nourished skin throughout winter.

1.     Hydrating Mask

If you suffer from dehydrated skin in winter, then make sure you use a hydrating mask twice a week as the best winter skin fix.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Cream Mask is a rich blend of botanicals that soothe, protect, and revitalise while sealing in moisture, leaving the skin feeling smooth and supple.

2.     Soothing Mask

If you suffer from hypersensitive, dry, red, irritated, itchy, or flaky skin in winter then you might require a soothing mask treatment twice a week to strengthen and restore your skin.

Our Choice: Dr. Haushka Soothing Mask is a complex formulation that includes Chamomile, Anthyllis, Lady’s Mantle and Mullein to soothe, calm, and balance.

3.     Moisturising Cream

You should be using moisturising cream throughout the year, but if you’re not, then you should start now. If you are using moisturising cream, make sure it has the right natural ingredients to soothe the skin while preventing moisture loss in winter.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream contains Shea Butter, Beeswax, and Rose Wax to protect your skin from outside elements and indoor heating. Extracts of Rose Petals and wild Rose Hips extract balance and harmonise your skin, with nourishing Avocado oil. Dr. Hauschka Revitalising Day Lotion is alight textured option which activates your oil glands. Dr. Hauschka Quince Day Cream contains Quince Seed extract to help your skin retain moisture, while Quince Wax protects against harsh environments.

4.     Eye Balm

The eyes are the windows to your soul – so don’t forget to care for them this winter! Use an eye balm with natural ingredients that will protect the skin from external conditions while reducing wrinkles.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm provides intensive care for the skin around the eyes. When warmed between your fingertips, the solid, fragrant balm turns silky smooth for extra winter protection.

5.     Lip Balm

Often, the first thing we notice when winter hits is how dry our lips get. Prevent this from becoming a really painful and unsightly problem by applying a nature-infused lip balm early on.

Our Choice: The Dr. Hauschka Lip Care range provides significant protection to your lips throughout winter. Dr. Hauschka’s natural cosmetics treat lips with distinctive, high-quality waxes, rich oils, and extracts from medicinal plants like Anthyllis, marigold and St. John’s wort.

6.     Hand Cream

Your hands are exposed to the elements, and come into contact with more chemicals – such as sanitisers – than other parts of your body. In winter, this can result in dry, chapped, and red skin. You should use a daily hand cream with natural ingredients to keep your hands soft and smooth this winter.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Hand Cream pampers and nourishes the hands. The composition of blackthorn, Anthyllis and marshmallow preserves moisture and fortifies the skin. Beeswax, almond oil, and wheat germ oil nourish and offer long-lasting protection.

7.     Body Moisturiser

Even though you’re all wrapped up in winter, artificial heating, hot baths, and dry air will reduce your moisture content, so you’ll need to replenish with a good daily body moisturiser.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Cream offers warmth and protection to the skin and senses. Quickly absorbed, this rich, luxurious product supports the skin’s natural barrier function for intensive care and protection.

8.     Body Oils

If you suffer from significant skin dryness in winter, then you might need more than just a body moisturiser. Consider using a body oil after your bath or shower which will be absorbed quickly and create a protective layer.

Our Choice: Sustain your skin with Dr. Hauschka Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil for relaxation and stress, Blackthorn Toning Body Oil which strengthens, or warming Rose Nurturing Body Oil and Birch Arnica Energising Body Oil to soothe and warm tired muscles and stiff limbs after exercise.

9.     Foot Cream

Finally, don’t forget about the feet! They also need some care and attention this winter or you risk dry, cracked heels which can become particularly painful.

Our Choice: Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Foot Cream is ideal for daily foot care. The creamy consistency absorbs quickly to offer intensive care and moisture, especially for dry feet

You may not need to include all of these in your skin care routine, but you will know which part of your body requires a bit of extra attention during the dry winter months. It’s best to start early with your natural skin care routine so that your skin is well-prepared when winter arrives. Dr. Hauschka’s all-natural ingredients ensure your skin has the best, most effective protection!
